5.6.3 Review Output

Management Review can be considered as “Steering” of the ISO 9001 QMS. Through the reviewing the overall performance of QMS, management can decide if any process or system needed to improve or additional resources needed for future plan.


The management review is normally reviewed annually or a series of monthly management meeting throughout the year. The frequency and schedule for these meetings must be defined and this is part of audit criteria.


Management Review’s meeting minutes must be kept as quality record and control follow the Control of Records Procedure.


The top management must make a decision after all the “Review Input” had been discussed, the decisions and actions related to:



Management review needs to seek for opportunities to improve the QMS and its processes,

  1. Can QMS system be more simplified and effectiveness?
  2. Any processes have a room for improvement?


Management review needs to seek for opportunities to improve the product quality or service quality.

  1. Any improvement can be made to reduce nonconforming product?
  2. Any new requirements from customer related to product?


Management review also need to decide any addition resources needed to improve the effectiveness of ISO QMS.

  1. Is our manpower enough for next one year? Any addition head count?
  2. Any training needed for our manpower?
  3. Any addition machine or infrastructure require to meeting customer requirements?
